Hacker uses LEGO Mario to play Super Mario Bros

0

With any new gaming peripheral, there is inevitably someone who finds a way to use it outside its purpose. This time, someone found a way to use the recently released LEGO Super Mario figurine as a real controller for Super Mario Bros.

As noted by The Verge the Twitter user r1ckp coded the LEGO Super Mario figurine to be recognized as a control input for Super Mario Bros. including the ability to run back and forth, jump and shoot fireballs.

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=lego-super-mario-49-pictures-of-the-new-sets&captions=true”]

Although it may seem magical at first, the LEGO Super Mario figure actually contains a bit of technology to make it work. Inside the simple figurine is an accelerometer to measure relative motion and speed, a gyroscope that allows you to monitor the orientation of the device, a camera sensor at the bottom to read different colors and Bluetooth for connectivity.

The self-proclaimed "hardware hacker" said it took " about 4 hours " to code the figurine to work with the emulator, which he is running on a Linux virtual machine on his Mac. The hardest part for he went on to figure out how to get his computer to interpret the device's Bluetooth signals and turn them into controller inputs.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/03/lego-super-mario-10-sets-in-action”]

In the video, we can see him tilting LEGO Super Mario back and forth to run in both directions and simulate a jumping motion to make Mario jump in the game. In addition, a subsequent video shows how Mario enters pipes by simply placing it over the green LEGO barrel, as well as shooting fireballs while hovering LEGO Super Mario on a small red LEGO platform.

Although this method certainly does not offer the most accurate way to play Super Mario Bros. original, it’s a novelty to see it in action. Hearing LEGO Super Mario scream "Wahoo!" when it jumps it adds a certain level of flare.

[ignvideo width=610 height=374 url=https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/31/the-lego-nintendo-console-has-an-amazing-hidden-secret]

However, this is not the only trick of LEGO Super Mario. If placed on top of the TV included with the LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System set it will reproduce sounds and music from Super Mario Bros. original while Mario on the screen runs along the course and jumps over enemies.

For more LEGO Super Mario, make sure to check out our practical review of the various sets as well as where you can buy them for you . You can also watch while building the LEGO NES set which includes a replica of the NES, controller and retro TV.

Next Studios' award winning Game Biped Lands on Xbox One

0

Biped is a colorful cooperative adventure set in an alternative universe where humans did not dominate the Earth. Instead, our world is an important transit point for interstellar travelers. Players control Aku and Sila, two maintenance bots whose mission is to restore a series of navigation beacons after a galactic storm hits the planet. You will have to explore, solve puzzles and cooperate to bring Earth back online.

The journey of Biped So far

The concept of the game arose from the simple idea of playing a character whose members individually controlled. But before reaching the scheme in which the creatures will be bipedal, the developers tested many other possible concepts. They had human-like creatures, scary aliens that looked like an octopus, exotic animals with several legs and many different designs to choose from.

However, it was becoming increasingly evident with each attempt that the complexity of controls is not what is needed for a fun party game. It had to be something more direct, easy to use and understand so that players could immediately feel comfortable and have fun.

After testing various concepts, the developers chose the cute little bots you see today. Our protagonists would have two independent legs, without arms, could manipulate objects and slide carelessly on smooth surfaces.

The idea worked: in a matter of months, Biped received dozens of positive reviews from the media and streamers and got over 1700 positive reviews on Steam alone. We are extremely proud of that.

Xbox One launch

The launch of Biped on Xbox One was our plan from the beginning, and that idea was confirmed by a series of requests we received from the community. [19659011] Biped "class =" wp-image-142959 "data-recalc-dims =" 1 "/>

Since the beginning of the development of Biped we have imagined an adventure in which cooperation would be the key to success. The unique movement scheme of the characters, missions, puzzles and all game environments actively promote collaboration. Sure, you can play alone, but Biped does its best when it is played alongside other humans! We want everyone to receive a copy of Biped invite friends, order a pizza and have fun exploring the game we gave our heart to make. We hope you enjoy our world as much as we love to put it together.

And if you like it, tell us! You can always join our Discord to chat about Biped share some funny moments that the game is full or make new friends!

PS5 Boss: Low spec consoles at a low price Haven & # 039; t Produced & # 039; Pleasant results & # 039;

0

PlayStation boss Jim Ryan explained Sony's decision to stop making an inexpensive and spec console, citing that these types of hardware offerings have not done very well in the past.

In an interview translated to Japanese media, Impress IGN independently verified, Ryan was asked why Sony did not announce a low-cost PS5 designed with lower specifications.

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=confirmed-playstation-5-games&captions=true”]

“First of all, I would like to say that we respect the judgment and philosophy of our competitors. Obviously, price is an important factor and we respect our competitors' strategy. That said, we are completely convinced of our strategy and its implications, ”said Ryan.

“One thing I would say is that the introduction of a low specification console at a low price point has not produced pleasant results in the past of this industry. We also consider this approach, but I also know that other operators have tried and had problems ”.

Ryan says the conclusion comes from research that says customers want to invest in a console for a long term and use it for up to 7 years. "We want the products we buy to be future proof," says Ryan. "We don't want to buy a product that will become obsolete in a few years."

Although Sony is not introducing a lower spec model in this generation, the company has revealed the PS5 Digital, a cheaper system with the same specifications as a standard PS5, except without a physical media drive. The digital PS5 costs $ 399 compared to the $ 499 physical media version.

Microsoft, meanwhile, introduced a cheaper, lower-spec Xbox Series S that is capable of playing games at 1440p compared to the 4K on the Xbox Series X. The Series S costs $ 299 in compared to the $ 499 Xbox Series X and you'll be able to play all the games of the next generation and have access to the Game Pass.

For more information on next-generation consoles, check out our PS5 pre-order page which is updated regularly to help you get a PS5 pre-order. The Xbox Series X and S will be pre-ordered next week .

HyperBrawl Tournament: Multiplayer Sports-Brawler is released on October 20 on Xbox One

0

Have you ever felt that sports games just needed something extra? Some futuristic weapons, perhaps? Maybe some superhero skills? Well, you're in luck, because our next sports-brawler, HyperBrawl Tournament has all of that and more. Let's jump!

HyperCurve your way to victory

In HyperBrawl your ultimate goal is to outdo your opponent. Because simply throwing a ball isn't necessarily as exciting in itself, we add a twist; HyperCurve. This gravity-defying ability allows you to control the ball in the air, which helps you avoid opponents and obstacles – or, you know, accidentally knocking out your teammate if he is in the wrong place at the wrong time. HyperCurve is also very good for scoring epic goals. Check out the video below for a quick summary of how it works.

Weapons can make all the difference, so choose wisely

HyperBrawl has a lot of different weapons. These range from offensive options like the Slam Hammer, great for knocking out opponents, to more defensive options like Sentry Shield, which can block incoming moves. You choose your weapon load before each match, and as you can see what your opponent is doing, I definitely recommend keeping an eye on your selections, so you can counterattack if necessary. Entering a match with the right load at the right time goes a long way in ensuring victory.

Gather your team

Weapons are not the only thing you have to think about when entering a match. Each team chooses two heroes (out of the 12 available at launch) who come in three different classes. Swift heroes are fast and agile, but easier to take down. Tank heroes are slow, but durable, and can be great goalkeepers. Finally, Core heroes are somewhere in the middle, if you prefer a more balanced approach.

Any hero can use any weapon, so you decide how you prefer to play. HyperBrawl also includes a ton of customization options unlocked through the game, so no matter who you fight with, you'll be awesome doing it!

Play online or offline, alone or with friends

HyperBrawl is for everyone as it is easy to pick up, but allows plenty of room to grow, if you want to become one The best. A great place to start is Tests and Advanced Tests, which not only show you the basics of the game, but also test your skills and everything you've learned. This is a great way to practice without having to deal with uncomfortable opponents.

After getting to know the basics, we have a single player campaign, in which you will compete for some beautiful in-game trophies on a number of difficulty levels. If you feel up to the challenge, you can jump to Blitz, which is our main online mode, complete with global leaderboards ranked by wins, KOs and goals. This is where you can see how you are doing in relation to the world.

If you want to play with your friends, you can invite up to 3 other people, locally or online, and our Party system allows you to combine local and online players any way you want.

A power to match the odds

I started this blog sparking superhero skills, but I've only mentioned one so far; let's launch a second for good measure.

For times when things just aren't going your way, you are able to channel HyperForce, which increases your hero's strength and speed to help balance the odds. When activated, your character is struck by lightning, so your opponent knows that you are serious. Be careful, however, as HyperForce makes you strong – but not invincible. Check out the video below to learn more about this powerful skill.

October 20 launch

I just scratched the surface here today, as the HyperBrawl Tournament has a lot more fun things to discover – and you can do just that when it launches on Xbox One on October 20th. The next major update for No Man’s Sky is called Origins and is coming next week.

Hello Games' Man & # 39; s Sky has come a long way since its original release, thanks to its many major updates and all the intermediate patches. Their next major update will be released next month, and Sean Murray of the studio said Origins will be the start of something new.

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=no-mans-sky-desolation-update-screenshots&captions=true”]

"Four years ago, we announced FOUNDATION, our first major update for No Man & # 39; s Sky," said Murray in a blog post released today. “& # 39; It won't be our biggest update, but it's the beginning of something. & # 39; These words were true at the time and sound true to Origins. We call it Origins because it is the beginning of something new, as No Man & # 39; s Sky continues to grow and evolve. "

The blog post mentions the last major update to the game, Beyond that brought VR into the game and expanded its online capabilities, as well as the more regular updates that the game received last year. Namely, Synthesis Bytebeat Living Ship Exo Mech Crossplay [19459459011] and [Des.

"We know that there is a big appetite in the community for content from No Man & # 39; s Sky, and the team worked hard this year to deliver in difficult circumstances," says the blog post. "We have been quiet, but we are always listening and focusing on improving the game that our team loves and is so passionate about."

[ignvideourl="https://wwwigncom/videos/2019/09/14/no-mans-sky-beyond-review"]

Like the rest of the No Man & # 39; s Sky updates, Origins is expected to be free for all players. With regard to when players can count on all the news that comes with the update, no official date has been announced. We know, however, that it will be released next week.

Update of the season. Two words that succinctly summarize the years of football fans' frustration with PES and FIFA and describe what may ironically be the most significant innovation in football games in years – or at least lead to it. But is it worth buying this year's PES? It is a more complicated question than it seems.

You see, as Konami expands its vision for next generation football coming next year, PES 2021 arrives as an unapologetic tentative launch, priced significantly lower than normal (including an additional 20% discount for homeowners). PES 2020) and offering clearly fewer new features than you would expect, even for a franchise with a relentless annualized release cadence. The graphics? They are equal. Controls? They are the same too. Menus? Okay, there are some new background photos, but you can see what I'm trying to say. This is, in no uncertain terms, a collection of up-to-date squads, kits and whatever Paul Pogba's latest adventure with peroxide is.

That is what the two galactics in the world of football franchises have been accused of, year after year, since time immemorial. At least PES 2021 (or eFootball PES 2021 Season Update, as it absurdly calls itself this year) is straight with us about it.

[ignvideo url=”https://www.ign.com/videos/efootball-pes-2021-season-update-full-match-gameplay”] Let's talk about football. For those who did not play last year's game, which is also this year's game, it represented a significant advance for a franchise that had already surpassed FIFA in fluidity on the pitch for the entire generation. The passes seemed a little more varied, the incidental touches that were not part of the canned animations gave each passage of the game an organic feeling, and the subtlety of the control was worth exploring every hour. By taking manual control of players before they catch the ball, you can make dangerous turns, make the first touches waving to the goal and acrobatic volleys.

Hit the pause button and return to the menus, however, and you may as well have entered a time capsule and typed & # 39; 2005 & # 39; on the display. It was a cavalcade of sources that would make graphic designers sick, describing a sparse selection of ways that haven't changed much since you abandoned your sociology classes to reproduce them on PS2.

[poilib element=”quoteBox” parameters=”excerpt=Foregoing%20presentational%20sparkle%20is%20the%20trade-off%20for%20better%20football%20on%20the%20turf”] FIFA, for its part, not only has all the licensed kits, names and badges that you would expect to ignore in the team selection menu, but a narrative-based Volta mode and the powerful FUT, among others. Abandoning all that variety and brightness of presentation is the compensation you make for better football on the pitch, and the equation doesn't change anything with this release.

Where things started to get really interesting for PES 2020 was in the release of data packages. Yes, it was good to stay updated with Neymar's hair, but the most important thing is that these data packages adjusted the values that support his football and adjusted them almost to perfection. Then new updates blew it up again, to the point that stars who earn a billion pounds an hour seem unable to give a first touch. Then they fixed it again.

The needle swung both ways with the data packets, so in many ways you can see the PES 2021 eFootball Season Update as an end to this ongoing saga, a sort of editing of the Data Pack's bells and whistles 9.

Unfortunately, it is not the best football this particular game has ever played, but improvements in the first touches and in the control of the running pace help a lot. Through balls, splintered or ground passes and crosses can be placed at a level of granularity that turns a game into a dime when a perfectly weighted player connects, while his ability to smoothly deflect a player's run from his shoulder. marker while they anticipate that the ball will reap great rewards when it is timed correctly.

[widget path=”global/article/imagegallery” parameters=”albumSlug=every-ign-pro-evolution-soccer-review-ever&captions=true”] However, there is still a lot of ball watching from the AI, both from the opponent and from the players of your own team that you did not highlight. It is more noticeable after the passes are diverted and do not have a clear recipient; 21 AI players seem to fall asleep until the highlighted player meets the ball. This breaks immersion and can cost what would otherwise be clear chances.

While I'm talking about AI, I want to see a transformative step forward in the next year because the old routines are really showing their age now. Have you ever seen a left-back dribbling in two full circles before firing a pass? It is as common here as potato-headed players without proper face sweeps.

Devotees will find some new content hidden in the PS2 era menus. The Master League is enhanced with some new manager avatar options, including cutlery collector Pep Guardiola, and the Euro 2020 tournament that has yet to take place can be played in PES form, licensed kits and everything. If that seems insufficient, remember that football games got away with launching just these tournaments as full-price games for years.

[poilib element=”poll” parameters=”id=f592b839-daf4-46b3-bd07-b7474772ab0a”] So we know what eFootball PES 2021 is and we also categorically know what it is not. The most difficult question to answer is the uncomfortable question about whether it is worth buying, even at a discount.

On paper, the season's updates seem to be the answer to the problem with all annualized sports franchises: there simply isn't enough bandwidth to innovate between titles when you have an annual release schedule. Not really. It is not the kind of innovation that changes the way you play. What we face as fans of football games this year is to postpone the bonus, sacrificing a good game to get a great one later. In a perfect world, we would review this year's game next year, when we would know how Konami used that extra time and resources.

Without the luxury of that prediction, eFootball PES 2021 seems like a pragmatic solution to a problem Konami cannot be held responsible for – working from home, producing an annualized game, during the advent of a new generation of console. This is not to say that it is not disappointing, but the pricing strategy and fundamental quality in the field mitigate this disappointment.
